(Maurice's Valises. Moral Tails in an Immoral World ; 6)
On a snow-filled train track somewhere in Bavaria, Maurice comes upon an abandoned train car with a circus elephant and an anteater locked inside. Far down the track the circus master has discovered his stars have been left behind and a train is speeding back to recapture them. Can Maurice help Hope and Freedum escape before the circus master arrives? From this adventure comes a Moral Scroll based on the words of Albert Einstein. [ebay.com]

(Maurice's Valises. Moral Tails in an Immoral World ; 3)
Maurice's third adventure finds him in some tight spots, including a sinking ship, traveling the desert, and even nearly ending up squished. Even in a pinch, Maurice takes the time to help others, and by saving the camel Cecil, he in turn receives help. This story exemplifies the saying, "do unto others as you would have them do unto you", which is based on the similarly worded moral taught by Confucius. For children, this is a particularly important thing to learn. While the benefits, or consequences of ones actions may not always be of life-changing nature, it is a principle that allows people to be civil and live within large groups. [goodreads.com]

(Maurice's Valises. Moral Tails in an Immoral World ; 1)
Grandpa mouse Maurice has traveled around the world collecting tales in his valises to share with the younger generation. Each features a moral lesson, and for his first adventure, it is a variation on the Boy who Cries Wolf tale. Maurice actually gives an extra level of meaning to this well-known adage. There are the rat's lies that are purposeful, and there are the boys lies which are caused by misinformation. The original tale solely blames the boy, but in this case we see lies can be more complex than that; the boy is hardly at fault for being told something false, but the adults don't know about the rat. Ultimately, the rat does pay for his misguiding words. This classic Aesop lesson is one that children will easily recognize. Maurice presents the story, then clarifies its moral worth. He lets the tale naturally express this lesson rather than preaching it. In the case of any uncommon words, a paw note explains them. [goodreads.com]
